Booster Programme Update

The UK government & JCVI have announced this morning (15/11) that the Covid booster programme is to be rolled out to over 40's, and that 16-17yr olds are to be offered a second dose.

Please can we ask that you DO NOT call your surgery to enquire about this.  All eligible patients will receive an invitation once we have received the formal go ahead.

FACE MASKS.

While certain COVID-19 restrictions are set to ease from the 19th of July as a health provider we politely ask that all patient attending St. Vincent Medical Centre or Hollybush Health Centre continue to wear face covering until further notice.  This is to ensure that we are taking every possible precaution to protect our patients and team members.

We would like to update you on how are services are running here at the surgery.

For the foreseeable future, many GP appointments will continue to be carried out over the phone through e-consultation or video consultation, if there is a clinical need for you to come into the practice you WILL be booked a face to face appointment.  We have also begun to introduce routine face to face appointments to our rotas.  You will be asked which appointment you would prefer when you call the surgery.

The Nursing Team are working hard to ensure their service is running as normally as possible.

Covid vaccines are now available to everybody over 18, all patients will be contacted in due course.

If you have an appointment to come into the surgery please:

Attend alone

Wear a face covering

Come as close to your appointment time as possible

DO NOT attend if you have any signs or symptoms of Covid-19

Face Coverings 

We are beginning to increase the patients coming to the Practice, if you are attend we ask that you wear a face covering that covers your mouth and nose ,such as multi layered scarf, if you do not have a mask. This is to protect both you and our staff. Please bear with the staff when attending, they are doing their very best to keep both you and us as safe as possible.

 

Face coverings do NOT replace social distancing. If you have symptoms of COVID-19 (cough, and/or high temperature, and/or loss of, or change in your normal sense of smell or taste – anosmia), do NOT attend the surgery, you and your household must isolate at home: wearing a face covering does NOT change this. You should arrange to have a test for COVID-19 via gov.uk or calling 119.

To reduce your chances of catching COVID-19 and reduce pressure on your local GP practice during this busy time, appointments will be carried out over the phone through e-consultation or video consultation unless there is a clinical need for you to come into the practice. This will help minimise risk while continuing to ensure people get the care and advice they need.

Appointments

All our receptionists are fully trained as Care Navigators, which means they will ask you a few questions before booking you an appointment.  This is to ensure that you are directed to the most appropriate person/source to help you.

During the day you can see any of the doctors or be seen at either our main or branch surgery. We do not restrict your freedom to be seen at any particular site. It may not always be possible to see the Doctor of your choice, but we will endeavour to meet your requirements. All consultations are by appointment only. Please try to give as much notice as possible for routine appointments, so that we can offer a wider range of times and the doctor of your choice.

Appointments can be made: 

  • by telephone
  • in person
  • or using SystmOnline, our internet appointment and prescription service 
    (Please note: you will need to register for SystmOnline with the surgery before you can order your prescription) 

We shall be grateful if you will observe the following when booking appointments. These are in place for your benefit and other patients waiting to be seen.

  • Try to arrive on time for your appointment.
  • Cancelling an appointment as soon as you know that you are unable to attend.
  • Where possible only 1 problem per appointment.
  • Not seeing other, additional patients in an appointment .

Auto-Arrival System

We have an auto-arrival system at both surgeries to enable you to let the practice know that you have arrived for your appointment. This bypasses queuing at reception. It is a touch-screen device that will automatically arrive you on our computer system. There are on-screen instructions in many languages.

Duty Doctor

If you require a home visit or feel you need to be seen more urgently than the next routine appointment you will be put on the duty doctor call list.  They will call you back to assess your need.

Please try to keep your phone line free while you are waiting for the doctor to call.

Non Attendance of appointments

Many appointments are not attended on a weekly basis. If you cannot keep an appointment or no longer need to see the doctor please let us know as soon as possible so the appointment can then be offered to another patient. 

We do have a strict DNA (Did Not Attend) policy and if you persistently fail to attend booked appointments for the Doctor, Nurse or clinic, you may be removed from the practice list.

Temporary Residents

If you are away from our practice area you are allowed to be seen by any local doctor by registering as a temporary resident. We will be happy to see visitors staying with you as a temporary resident.
