When We Are Closed
If you require medical attention outside of normal hours, and it is not an emergency requiring a 999 call or immediate attention, then you should telephone the usual surgery number. You will hear a message asking you if you need urgent medical attention. If you do require this please press 1 and your call will put through to the out of hours service. The receptionist there will take your details and a Doctor will call you back. If you are asked to go and see a Doctor at the out of hours clinic you will find this based in the Accident & Emergency Department of Doncaster Royal Infirmary. You are not able to attend this clinic without a pre-booked appointment. It is not part of the A&E Department.
It is not appropriate to visit Accident & Emergency for non-urgent matters. You will have to wait for a long time to be dealt with and the department needs to be able to deal with the very urgent cases that arise.
If you have any minor illness problems, you can, if you wish, contact your local pharmacist for advice or call the NHS Helpline on 111.
Please ask at reception if you require any further information.
Out-of-hours services are generally busy so please think carefully before asking to see a doctor and only do so if you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.
In a genuine emergency you should call 999. Chest pains and / or shortness of breath constitute an emergency.
